The present simple tense is one of the most commonly used tenses in English. It describes habits, facts, routines, and general truths. To form the present simple, use the base form of the verb for most subjects and add “s” or “es” for third-person singular (he, she, it).

For example:

  • I walk to school every day.
  • She eats breakfast at 7 AM.
  • The sun rises in the east.

Negative sentences use “do not” (don’t) or “does not” (doesn’t) before the base verb. Questions are formed by placing “do” or “does” before the subject.

Examples:

  • They don’t like coffee.
  • Does he play the guitar?
