Forget the textbooks, focus only on what helps you speak

Many English learners feel overwhelmed by grammar. Tenses, conditionals, complex clauses… it can feel like too much, especially when all you want is to speak clearly and confidently in real life.

Here’s the truth: you don’t need to learn every grammar rule to speak well.
You just need the grammar that helps you build clear, correct sentences when you speak.

If your goal is conversation, not passing exams or writing essays, this blog is for you.

What Grammar Do You Actually Need for Speaking?

You only need the core building blocks of English, what I call “conversation grammar.” These are the basics that make your English sound natural, clear, and correct:

✅ Nouns

Names of people, places, things, or ideas.
Example: “My friend is a teacher.”

✅ Verbs

Action or state words. These are the heart of your sentence.
Example: “She works from home.”

✅ Pronouns

Words like I, you, he, she, we, they. These keep sentences simple.
Example: “He is learning English.”

✅ Adjectives

Words that describe nouns. These help add clarity.
Example: “It’s a small problem.”

✅ Prepositions

Words like in, on, at, for, with. These are small, but very important in everyday speech.
Example: “I’m at the office.”

✅ Basic sentence structure

Subject + verb + object is all you need for most conversations.
Example: “I like coffee.”
No need for complex sentences right now. Keep it clean and focused.
